Reading the day

A useful number. Not the whole story.

What the UV index tells you

It describes the potential for damage from ultraviolet radiation. WHO recommends protection from UV 3: shade, clothing and sunscreen on exposed skin. Higher values mean higher risk. Source: WHO ↗

What it cannot tell you

It does not measure your vitamin D or calculate a personal safe exposure time. Skin, clothing, sun elevation and previous exposure matter too.
