Terms of use

These terms apply to the Taiyo app and to gettaiyo.com. By using Taiyo you accept them. If you do not agree, please do not use the app.

2. What Taiyo does

Taiyo estimates the vitamin D your skin may make in the sun from the UV index, your skin type, clothing, the time of day and your location. It suggests session lengths, keeps a log of sun, supplements and food, and shows educational content.

3. Not medical advice

Taiyo gives wellbeing estimates. It is not a medical device. It does not diagnose, treat or prevent any disease and does not replace a doctor, pharmacist or other healthcare professional. Vitamin D figures are approximate ranges based on published research and on weather data that may be inaccurate.

Suggested times are designed to stay well below the point at which skin starts to burn, but sensitivity varies from person to person and with medication, reflective surfaces such as snow, water or sand, and altitude. Always use your own judgement: seek shade and protect your skin if it becomes red or uncomfortable. Talk to a healthcare professional before changing supplements, especially if you are pregnant or breastfeeding, have a medical condition or take medication.

4. Subscriptions and purchases

• Some features require Taiyo Pro, offered as an auto-renewing subscription and/or a one-time lifetime purchase. Prices are shown in the app before you buy.
• Payment is charged to your Apple ID when you confirm the purchase or, if you start a free trial, when the trial ends.
• Subscriptions renew automatically unless you turn off auto-renewal at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. You can manage or cancel them in your Apple ID settings.
• If you cancel during a free trial, you will not be charged. Any unused part of a free trial is forfeited when you buy a subscription.
• Refunds are handled by Apple according to its policies. This does not limit any rights you have under consumer law.

5. Your use

You may use Taiyo for your own personal, non-commercial purposes. Do not misuse the app or our servers: for example, do not try to reverse engineer them, overload them, or access them by automated means other than through the app.

6. Intellectual property

Taiyo, its design, text, illustrations and code belong to its owner or its licensors. Weather data comes from the Norwegian Meteorological Institute (MET Norway) under the CC BY 4.0 licence.

7. Availability and changes

We work to keep Taiyo available and accurate, but we cannot guarantee that it will always work without interruption or errors, or that weather data will always be available. We may improve, change or discontinue features. If we discontinue Taiyo Pro, we will give you reasonable notice.

8. Liability

To the extent permitted by law, Taiyo is provided "as is" and we are not liable for indirect or consequential losses arising from its use, or for decisions made on the basis of its estimates. Nothing in these terms excludes liability that cannot be excluded by law, including your statutory rights as a consumer.

9. Privacy

How we handle data is explained in our privacy policy.

10. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. We will publish the new version on this page with its date and, for material changes, let you know in the app.

11. Law and disputes

These terms are governed by Spanish law. If you are a consumer, you keep the protection of the mandatory laws of your country of residence and may go to the courts of your place of residence. The EU online dispute resolution platform is available at ec.europa.eu/consumers/odr.
